OMLA is an organization that thrives on contributions from it's members
and others. Your help is what can make us become a truely helpful and
supportive force for middle schools in Oregon. Here are some ways you
can help.
Take our planning survey. We are doing some strategic planning to determine what our organization can do to help middle level schools improve state-wide. Your input will help us in that effort.
Send us information for our Promising
Practices pages about an instructional strategy, curriculum or climate
enhancing program you've implemented at your school which has proven effective.
This will put you on those pages so that others can contact your school
to learn of your success in order to enhance their own.
Suggest a presentation for our Professional Development Institute . If you, or a team or educators from your building or district, can
share a successful instructional strategy, curriculum, or climate enhancing
program that has proven successful at your school, we'd love to consider
it for our conference. Proposals should be sent prior to the end of November in order to be guaranteed
consideration for our March Institute. But you can send us conference ideas anytime to be considered
for the following conference. This form is also to be used to send
OMLA details of a conference session you have discussed with a member
of our board and have been asked to present.
Nominate a colleague for one of OMLA's Annual
Awards. Each year OMLA recognizes several middle school supporters
with our Pence and Putnam awards. The David Putnam award recognized OMLA's
Middle School Educator of the Year and the John Pence awards (up to seven
per year) recognize people (not always educators) who have distinguished
themselves in the advancement of middle level eduation in our state.
Volunteer to serve on the OMLA Board.
If you have a desire to be involved at the state level in an organization
committed to providing middle school educators resources to help them
make their middle schools better places for early adolescents to learn,
click this button. It will take you to our Leadership Page where you will find e-mail links to our board members. Simply send an e-mail to our president. Be sure to include your region of the state or other
organizations represented on the board to which you belong.
